Join Us to Build Our Art Community in Brunswick

Would you like to see a vibrant and cohesive art community here in Brunswick? Would you like to have a common space where artists can gather, show, work, and learn? Want to just have a place to come and meet up with other artists when you feel like it? Just need a little place to work or want to take some classes? Or do you love to socialize in the art community and want to teach classes? If you are interested in any of the above or anything else that works for you, join us and share your ideas at an art community interest meeting!

In the last two meetings, common things that we have talked about as being important are: 1) creating a fun and vibrant community that is welcoming to artists and non-artists alike; 2) working with the support of the City to create a community that will become a permanent fixture of Brunswick; 3) finding a space dedicated to art; 4) having regularly occurring art events such as film series, concerts, theater, dance, poetry slams, film/video events, writing events, bonsai class series, various art exhibits, makeshift drive-in or float-in movie nights; 5) creating a regular gallery walk/event using local businesses, churches, public buildings, etc., as the galleries; 6) creating/maintaining an art presence in local media – writing featured artists or events articles in the paper and on websites; 7) finding places for performing arts; 8) creating local studio tours and artist talks; 9) developing and promoting art classes and workshops; 9) hosting art festivals, large and small, including fun events such as kinetic sculpture parade/float; 10) creating a place for the community to communicate effectively; 11) and installing public art all around town. If you are interested in any of these ideas or have more ideas to add, please come to one of the next two meetings and let us know.
