Afro-Puerto Rican Music at the Brunswick Library

Join Cultura Plenera to learn about the Afro-Puerto Rican musical styles of Bomba and Plena. Bomba is a musical genre that dates back more than 300 years and has heavy African influences. Plena is a musical genre played with hand drums that dates back more than 100 years, and also narrates stories of the Puerto Rican experience through music. Both Bomba and Plena are central to life in Puerto Rican communities inside and outside of the island. Saturday from 1-3.
