DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by listening to genealogist Joe Ginorio’s fascinating family history that extends back to the time of the American Revolution and his family’s culture of service. Joe’s 5th great-grandfather was the Lt. Governor of Cuba and later the Governor of Puerto Rico in the late 1700s; his aunt was a student leader during the Puerto Rican Nationalist uprising in the 1950s; his mother was the Secretary and Official Interpreter to President Sukarno of Indonesia; and Mr. Ginorio himself served in the Merchant Marines and the Air Force before working for the Central Intelligence Agency from 2006-2015.  Also learn about this lesser known history of the American Revolution\, the support that Spain gave the Colonial Army\, as we begin to commemorate America 250.

DESCRIPTION:Join us Monday\, September 2\, 2024\, in Knoxville\, MD\, for the inaugural Othello Park Labor Day 1K/5K! \nProceeds from the race benefit the Brunswick and Valley Elementary schools PTA and the Brunswick High School Track and Field Program. Your support is greatly appreciated. The race is hosted by the Brunswick Area Recreation Council (BARC). This is a NON-Profit event. All members involved in the event are volunteers and all funds raised go to race expenses and then to aforementioned groups. That’s right! SUMMARY:Monthly Smoketown Rotary C&O Canal Clean Up at Brunswick Boat Ramp
DESCRIPTION:Join the Smoketown Canal Stewards in their monthly clean up\, usually the first Saturday of the month. They pick up trash\, keep weeds under control\, and remove graffiti. This is a quick and easy way to help keep the Potomac and the C&O Canal a beautiful place and let’s us give back to a place that we all enjoy. There is an official Smoketown Roatary Canal Steward at each event and volunteers are required to sign a waiver. Please note that we are working on Federal property so we follow their rules. This event can be cancelled or postponed due to weather conditions\, high water\, etc.\, so make sure to check before you go. Hope to see you there!
