RIVERPALOOZA: GOOD-BYE SUMMER BLOWOUT

August 25 @ 12:00 pm5:00 pm

Get ready for an epic end-of-summer celebration with RiverPalooza’s Goodbye Summer Celebration! Shenandoah Riverkeeper Mark Frondorf, Potomac Riverkeeper Dean Naujoks, and Upper Potomac Riverkeeper Brent Walls are thrilled to announce this exciting whitewater celebration on one of the most beautiful stretches of the river.

Whether you’re a seasoned adrenaline junkie or a whitewater novice, this trip is perfect for you! Join us as we paddle through the confluence stretch of the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers, starting at Millville and hitting all the best whitewater in the Harpers Ferry area. Our talented guides from River Riders will ensure your safety and guide you through the Bull Falls, Staircase, Harpers Ferry National Historic Park, and Mad Dog and White Horse Rapids – the best whitewater in the area.

And the coolest part? You can choose between two different boat configurations designed for all skill levels! If you’re a beginner or less experienced paddler, opt for a seat in a guided raft. You’ll be an integral part of the team, with a paddle in hand and expert guides to help you safely navigate the river. Or, if you’re a seasoned paddler or want to challenge yourself, sign up for a River Rider ducky rental. These inflatable kayaks are incredibly forgiving and a blast to paddle, and there will be lots of paddler friends and raft guides to provide encouragement and assistance along the way.

The paddle will end at Potoma Wayside, just upstream of the Rt. 340 bridge, where Piney Run spills into the Potomac and creates a gorgeous hidden waterfall. Take a quick invigorating rinse before climbing up the hill back to the buses that will shuttle you back to your car.

Don’t miss out on this beautifully scenic paddle along the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, and join us for a day of fun and adventure on the water, or make it a weekend! Sign up for white water tubing (provide link) and optional camping at Harpers Ferry Adventure Center on Saturday, August 24th!
